Prophecies of Jesus
Below are some of the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled or were about Jesus life, proving He is the Jewish Messiah from the Old Testament. All of these are important because all of them were written hundreds of years before Jesus was even born, many being very specific. Jesus fulfilled every prophecy about the Messiah except for the prophecies dealing with His second coming to earth. Click on each verse to see the prophecy and to read a description of its fulfillment.
“Jesus Christ fulfilled more than 300 prophecies in his life. Here’s something that can help you appreciate the odds of this happening: If only eight of those 300 prophecies came true in one person, it would be comparable to this:
• Build a small fence around the state of Texas,
• Fill it two feet deep in silver dollars,
• Paint one of them red,
• Mix them all up,
• Then – starting at the Louisiana border – walk blindfolded as far into Texas as you want to go,
• Then lean over, still blindfolded,
• And pick up the red silver dollar.
What do you think the chances are that you would pick up the red one? Would you bet your retirement on picking up that red silver dollar? Would you bet your eternal life on odds like that? All of us do, because those are only the odds for eight prophecies coming true in one person. But Jesus had more than 300 prophecies about Him come true.”

The Suffering Servant predicted

Isaiah 53 Click Here to read the chapter
Isaiah chapter 53 is a very amazing chapter. It shows how the Jewish Messiah, Jesus, would suffer and die for the sins of the world. This passage was written over 680 years before Jesus was even born and yet sounds so much like what Jesus Christ died for. This is not a coincidence but God setting his Word above all else by foretelling the future of what He would do.
For those who may say that the chapter was changed by Christians later on, the Dead Sea Scrolls prove them wrong. In the Dead Sea Scrolls, a complete copy of the book of Isaiah was found that dates back to about 125 B.C. The copy shows something incredibly amazing. 95 percent of the book is word for word the same as our standard Hebrew Bible. Of the 5 percent that is different, it is of variations of spelling.
To focus on the 53 chapter of Isaiah, there are 166 words in the chapter and only 17 letters are in doubt. Of the 17 letters, “ten are a matter of spelling which does not affect the sense. Four are minor stylistic changes, such as conjunctions. The remaining three letters comprise the word ‘light’ which is added in verse 11 and does not affect the meaning greatly. In fact, the use of ‘light’ here is supported by two other ancient manuscripts.” Putting it simply, we have the same book of Isaiah as did the Hebrews in 125 B.C.

He regretted betraying Jesus so he tried to give the money back to the priests but they would not take the money back. So Judas threw the money inside the temple and hanged himself. Back
Psalm 69:21

Messiah being crucified
Back
Psalm 22:16
Matthew 27:35
This was written over 800 years before Jesus was born. This is interesting because it talks about His hands and feet being pierced. We have been blessed through Abraham by Jesus Christ coming into the world and suffering and dying on a cross to save us from our sins so we could go to Heaven to be with God for eternity. Luke 24:1-3
This was written over 800 years before Jesus was born. It talks about how God’s Holy One will not see corruption. His body won’t have time to decay because He would be raised from the dead. After 3 days Jesus was raised from the dead, so His body didn’t have enough time to decay.
Messiah’s side will be pierced and He is the Passover Lamb
Back
Zechariah 12:10
John 19:33-34
This prophecy was written over 470 years before Jesus was ever born. It shows that when Jesus comes back, His side will be pierced, which was done at His death. This was done because at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion, the Roman soldiers were going around breaking the legs of the people being crucified to speed up their death. When they came to Jesus, He was dead but they pierced His side to make sure. This also fulfills the role of Jesus being our Passover Lamb.
Numbers 9:12
This was written by Moses over 1400 years before Jesus was born. The Passover lamb was killed and its blood was put on the doorposts of a house. This was done in remembrance of when God spared the Israeli people when the angel of death went through Egypt killing the all firstborn males as punishment for Pharaoh refusing to let the Israeli people go. The Passover lamb had to be spotless, in a figurative sense sinless because all blemishes are a result of the original fall and sin of man. Jesus was spotless (sinless) thus He is the only one who could be our Passover lamb.
John 1:29
1 Peter 1:18-19
Ruptured heart and bones out of joint
Back
Psalm 22:14
John 19:34
This was written over 800 years before Jesus was born. It shows how the Messiah’s heart would burst open. It also talks about all His bones going out of joint. The Messiah would be afflicted but remain silent
Back
Isaiah 53:7
Afflicted. Matthew 27:29-30
Silent. Matthew 27:12-14
This was written over 680 years before Jesus was born. This talks about how He would be abused and afflicted but would not say anything. Its pretty hard to imagine that someone would not say anything while they are standing trial to see if they will be killed. Pilate even said in John 19:7-10 how he was amazed that Jesus didn’t answer him. Pilate didn’t want to kill Jesus but he gave into pressure from the Jewish leaders at the time. If Jesus did say something then Pilate may have let Him go but if Jesus didn’t die, then we would have to pay the penalty for our sins ourselves, which is eternal separation from God in Hell.
When the Messiah would come
Back
Daniel 9:25
John 12:12-13
This was written over 425 years before Jesus was born. This talks when the Messiah would come to Jerusalem. The time works out to be 483 years. From the time that the decree went out to rebuilt Jerusalem after it was destroyed to the time that Jesus entered Jerusalem saying He was the Messiah was 483 years to the very day. You can’t guess this. To predict to the very DAY when someone will come many hundreds of years before they do is pretty impossible.
Messiah would make intercession
Back
Isaiah 53:12
Luke 23:34
1 John 2:1
This was written over 680 years before Jesus was born. It shows how Jesus would intercede for us because of our sins. Only Jesus can do this because He is the only one who lived a perfect life, never sinning once.

Back
Daniel 7:13-14
Luke 1:31-33
This was written over 530 years before Jesus was born. It shows a couple of things. First of all that Jesus is now with God the Father. It also shows how Jesus’ kingdom is going to be an everlasting one, one without end and that people from all over the world will come and worship Jesus.
Kings from the East will worship the Messiah
Back
Psalm 72:10,11
Matthew 2:1,11
This was written over 800 years before Jesus was born. It shows that kings from the East will come to worship the Messiah, Jesus. Why would any kings come from a far away land to worship some other king that would, at the time, have no power or influence on their kingdoms? Only special revelation would make these kings come to worship the King of kings, Jesus.
