Whats ‘Born-Again’?
19 May 2009 in TopicsJesus said in John 3:3, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. What is born-again though? Being born again means that our sprit inside of us is brought to life again. The Bible declares that our sprit is dead in us for the sins that we have committed and for the original sin of Adam disobeying God and thus passing on his sin to all humanity. We are all spiritually dead. Jesus is the only one who can revive our sprit in us. Without our sprit being alive then we would no cares for the things of God, such as praying and reading His word the Bible. Many people say that they cannot understand the Bible and have a tough time trusting in God. Without our sprit being alive in us we can do none of these things. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (KJV). I know this to be true. I read through the entire Old Testament without being what I feel now as born-again. I know from experience how hard it is to read the Bible while being spiritually dead. But when you are born-again then its amazing. You want to read the Bible and you start to understand it a lot better then you did before being born-again. You want to do the things God wants you to do. You don’t want to sin anymore. Its not a matter of trying not to sin, you don’t want to sin anymore. This doesn’t mean that you won’t mess up again and end up sinning, but you won’t like it that you did sin. It becomes disgusting to you. Jesus died to save us from judgment and Hell. He rose again so that we might have eternal life in Him and also have a spiritual rebirth, being born-again spiritually.
